Dhanya got engaged to John Jacob, the winner of the Tharolsavam program on Kairali channel, on November 14, 2011. The couple married on January 9, 2012, at Mateer Memorial Church in Trivandrum. After her marriage, Dhanya took a break from the film industry. The couple welcomed a baby boy named Johan on July 13, 2013.
